direttamente da google:ASIO (Audio Stream Input/Output), developed by Steinberg, is a cross-platform, multi-channel audio transfer protocol that is being adopted by many of the manufacturers of audio/MIDI sequencing applications. It allows software to have access to the multi-channel capabilities of a wide range of powerful sound cards.
ASIO expands on the basic capabilities of a standard computer sound card, most of which can only provide stereo (two-channel) audio input and output. The ASIO specification defines the interface that manufacturers of professional audio sound cards must use to create an ASIO driver for their hardware. This driver allows the host audio/MIDI application to "see" all of the inputs and outputs available on the sound card. The user can then assign these I/O ports as needed for recording or playback when using an ASIO-compatible software program. This allows the users to record more tracks simultaneously than the previous limitation of two channels imposed by a standard sound card.

LOL allora è meglio che traduca, usando il traduttore di google ovviamente... forse così è più chiaro ASIO (ingreso/uscita audio del flusso), sviluppato da Steinberg, è una traversa-piattaforma, protocollo audio multicanale di trasferimento che sta adottando da molti dei fornitori di audio/MIDI che ordina le applicazioni in serie. ASIO spiega le possibilità di base di una scheda standard del suono del calcolatore, la maggior parte di cui possono fornire soltanto l'input e l'uscita audio (a due vie) sterei. La specifica di ASIO definisce l'interfaccia che i fornitori di schede sane audio professionali devono usare per generare un driver di ASIO per i loro fissaggi. Questo driver permette l'ospite l'applicazione di audio/MIDI che "vede" tutte le input ed uscite disponibili sulla scheda sana. L'utente può allora assegnare questi orificii di I/o come stato necessario per la registrazione o il playback quando usando un programma ASIO-compatibile del software. Ciò permette che gli utenti registrino simultaneamente più piste che la limitazione precedente di due scanalature imposte da una scheda sana standard.
