Alcuni spezzoni che sintetizzano e mettono a fuoco l'essenza del dub (per chi non avesse voglia di leggersi tutta la pappardella..):

And they should, intuitively. In dub, the bass (the base, the foundation) is you, the only permanence that matters. Jamaican dub is more subversive than Burroughs or Derrida because it’s more populist: The huge bass — designed for irresistible dance action via monster sound systems — goes straight for the body. No Ph.D. required. By rights, it should be on the radio everywhere. If you want to get suspicious, you can speculate about why hip-hop — which hypes materialism and self-destruction — receives 360-degree U.S. exposure, while dub and roots reggae get stuck behind the tofu bin."
Spero di aver dato qualche spunto a chi, non esperto del genere, avesse voglia di saperne qualcosina in più.
Viceversa, sarei contento di sapere che questo forum pullula di dubb-specialists (per dirla con gli Almamegretta) che vogliano scambiare due chiacchere sull'argomento, in particolare in merito alla possibilità o meno di produrre musica di questo tipo affidandosi solo all'elettronica, che sarebbe poi il mio caso..

ps: l'unica cosa che non condivido, parlando della scena dub, è l'intreccio musica-religione (rastafari e tutto il resto), che mi sembra piuttosto comune tra molti artisti/produttori/fan del genere...
