Riguardo ai tempi e alle modalità penso che pochi sappiano.....

Dear customers,
For many of you this is the announcement you have been waiting for a long time. While we put our heart and soul into developing ground-breaking products in your best interests, we haven’t accomplished our promise to provide you with the user experience you deserve in every part of Steinberg’s technologies in recent time.
We have been listening to your feedback for years, but significant changes need time, and we had to carefully lay out our vision for the future. But now the time has come to put our approach to license management at the center of our attention.
We have decided to adopt a new license management technology that everyone will benefit from to prepare for coming requirements.
An authorization system shouldn’t get in your way, but support you in the onboarding process.
Anti-piracy protection technology shouldn’t restrict you as the customer, but secure your investment.
A license management shouldn’t stop you from using your products, but enable you to be creative, whenever and wherever you are.
At this point in time, all we can tell you is that everyone at Steinberg is strongly committed to providing you as soon as possible with a solution that offers more flexibility, more reliability and, of course, a seamless migration.
It’s too early to announce details on the schedule or the new environment, but one thing is for sure: The future will be dongle-free.

Io penso che non avrei mai fatto un annuncio simile senza essere sicuro di cose mezze pronte, mi preoccupa la parte "per ora non possiamo annunciare un programma di sviluppo o date". Spero che abbiano cose serie in mano.
Lanciare un "bomba" così come se fosse "la prossima svolta epocale" quando invece si tratta di un argomento sul quale è sicuro che si dibatte in quel modo un po' becero da "tifosi" mi sembra marketing sbagliato, nemmeno un "basta che se ne parli". Sarebbe stato meglio, secondo me, annunciare un prodotto pronto e una data.
E mi sono pure comprato 3 mesi fa una chiavetta del nuovo tipo sulla quale spostare le licenze, che la vecchia ogni tanto mi stranisce...
Per inciso, se facessero una fase di attivazione online e una verifica all'avvio del programma via internet per me non sarebbe un problema, basta che prevedano un tot di ore che uno può usare Cubase prima di dover verificare di nuovo (24 ore?)
Sull'abbonamento la cosa che mi fa un po' ridere è che non sono pochi che cacciano 60 o 160€ l'anno, a seconda del costo nel recente passato degli update il che porta a naso a 220 ogni due anni, che potrebbe poi diventare un 10€ mese fisso, magari da spegnere o accendere a piacere (tipo netflix). Non parliamo poi di aggiornamenti da versioni di 3 4 anni a costo superiore che mantiene la media.
Però si può solo per ora ipotizzare, è qui il punto: creare dubbi e non certezze su questo argomento delicato.

Steinberg’s announcement to change the licensing system in the foreseeable future has raised questions that we are happy to answer as we progress — please understand that most details cannot be revealed at this stage but will be addressed ongoing in the months to come.
Today I want to reassure you on the raised concerns regarding the license migration.
Implementing new license management technology does not entail abandoning our perpetual license model. Rather, it means improving your customer experience and making way for new opportunities. It also doesn’t mean that your dongle will no longer work from one day to the next. I ensure that ample time will be provided to migrate your licenses to the new system. Until then, licenses stored on the dongle will remain fully functional.
I hope this sheds light on the concerns posed here and elsewhere.
